What is Waffle fabric?

Waffle knit fabric is produced on a rib machine utilizing either a knit & miss loop or a knit & tuck loop combination. The production involves varying sizes, design repeats, cam numbers, and feeder counts, with different needle drops or inactive needle designs, primarily on an 18 GG rib machine. Waffle knit fabric is commonly referred to as Thermal Rib.

Characteristics of Waffle fabric:

  1. Aesthetic textured pattern featuring a grid-like design of raised squares or rectangles.
  2. Excellent moisture absorption, making it ideal for towels and blankets.
  3. Facilitates airflow through the fabric, promoting quick drying.
  4. Structured design enhances breathability.
  5. The 3D structure creates a layer of air between the fabric and the skin.
  6. Unique thermal properties provide warmth without overheating.
  7. Traps moisture and warm air, offering insulation and high moisture absorbency.
  8. Soft, cozy, sensitive, and comfortable.
